The IMPIC filing XML file
The IMPIC portal accepts an XML file that pre-fills the form. The XML is not what you submit: it is what saves you typing dozens of fields by hand.
What it is for
The file is imported into the portal form, which is then pre-filled. What you actually submit at the end is a PDF the portal generates and you sign digitally, within a 30-minute window from downloading it.
Structure and formats
- Four blocks in a fixed order: buyers, sellers, transaction, properties.
- Dates as DD-MM-YYYY; amounts with space thousands, comma decimals and a trailing euro sign.
- Postcode split across two fields; parish given as the six-digit DICOFRE code.
- A field with no information is emitted empty, never as zero or N/A.
The portal reports failures as technical errors without naming the field. In practice the usual causes are an empty nationality or country (the import fails entirely), an empty ID document type (the import succeeds but the PDF will not generate) and free text in a field that expects a code.
